The poverty of women and their communities is both a social justice and an economic problem. The National Congress of Neighborhood Women Chapters have been bringing together organizations and individuals around women's economics and social justice concerns. These include leadership training, pooling data, building coalitions and collective strategies. 

Both the Bejing Women's Conference and The Habitat Conference on Human Settlements called for comprehensive and innovative strategies at the local level, which include women as stake holders in creating a sustainable, healthy and equitable economic, social and sustainable environment and future for their communities. 

Purpose:

To include women as stake holders in creating healthy, sustainable and equitable future that is environmentally and economically sound; 

To ascertain issues and consolidate findings contributing to a national forum on how to impact local, state and regional programs and policies focusing on women's roles in sustainable environments; 

To bring together individuals and organizations around women's economic and social justice concerns; 

To pool information; build coalition; create a phone network; provide data and strategies for legislative committees and local government.
